Stella Dance Company's mission statement is to "Promote, preserve and de-mystify ballet as a classical and contemporary art form." Our goal is to promote ballet through igniting community interest in the performing arts, using the region's gifted dancers in a professional venue, while presenting high quality performances at affordable ticket prices. We work to preserve the traditions and beauty of classical ballet by connecting promising dancers with high quality training. And lastly, we strive to de-mystify classical and contemporary ballet to our community through outreach programs and scholarship opportunities designed to connect ordinary people to the extraordinary art form of ballet.
 

Special Programs


 

 

The Stella Dance Company Outreach Program

In 2002, The Ballet Montmartre celebrated 30 years of service to the community, and our Outreach Program has already exposed over 7,400 children and adults of Orange County to the art of ballet.

The three facets of our Outreach Program are:

  • Art Enhances the Quality of our Lives - Interactive educational lecture demonstration tours with the Artistic Director and Company Dancers throughout
    the Newport Mesa and Santa Ana School Districts.
  • Reach Out to the Community Through Dance - Performances free of charge at community events, including festivals, charity organizations, hospitals, senior centers, and churches.
  • Developing the Artists of Tomorrow - The Ballet Montmartre provides the opportunity for local artist to perform, showcasing their talents in preparation for a professional career. To those with financial need, limited scholarships are offered enabling more children to study ballet.

Outreach Performances have been provided at no cost to the following schools and events: Mariners School, Anderson School, Harbor View School, Cook Elementary,
Good Shepard Preschool, Whittier Elementary, The Newport Beach French Festival, Twila Reed School, Wilson School, Segerstrom Hall Invitational Festival and the Imagination Celebration at Founders Hall.

In recent years, the City of Newport Beach has provided a grant for us to work in the Newport Beach schools, however the City of Costa Mesa offers no such grant program.
